Roles:
-Demonstrates expertise and leadership in working with business units, product management, development and operations to architect innovative solutions that meet the Marketplace needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability, realistic implementation schedules and adherence to architectural goals and principles.
- Drives technical designs to consensus and approval as a core member of cross-functional architecture design group. Designs solutions for specific use cases that provide frameworks, interfaces and services that can be extended and reused for future requirements.
-Reviews external technologies and products for their applicability to specific project requirements. Is able to compare various solutions and select the one most appropriate for the project and company.
-Mentors product marketing and development team members on architecture topics (e.g., issues, directions, guidelines, etc.).
Job Requirements:
-10+ years experience in requirements analysis, design, development and unit testing of distributed, fault-tolerant applications with particular attention to security, scalability and high performance.
-Experience with architecting high volume web systems or large transaction client-server systems.
-Excellent communication and relationship skills, especially the ability to articulate advanced technical topics; Ability to articulate business issues/concerns with staff, peers, superiors, and outside parties (e.g. vendors, partners).
-Demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills.
-Strong presentation skills.
-Very strong technical leadership and ability to command respect at all levels of the organization.
-Ability to thrive in a high-pressured but highly structured, customer-oriented environment; Ability to contribute to multiple projects/demands simultaneously.
-Strong object modeling skills.
-Experienced in Java, application servers, servlets, JSP, Java Beans, EJB, JMS, RMI, JDBC. Experience with WebSphere a plus.
-Experience with XML, XSL, DOM, SAX, JAXP, DTDs, schemas, and XML parsers and tools a plus.
-Extensive knowledge and experience with database design and optimization (Oracle, DB2, Sybase or MS SQL Server).
-Experience with middleware messaging services and distributed objects.
-Experience with O-R mapping and persistence mechanisms.
-Knowledge and experience using eBay’s websites strongly preferred
Basic Qualifications:
-BS/BA in CS or related field.
